The first of, hopefully, many.

This evening I have started a blog.

Guilty of probably following the current trend of blogging and twittering, but I would also like to think I am doing this for other reasons, like keeping everyone informed of the goings-on of my group, Stroud Young Labour as well as with the rest of my life – school, socialism, rugby.

Today, I met a true socialist. I have worked with him in the past and he has been associated with my family for years, something I am very proud of. His name is Ken Purchase and until the recent general election he was the MP for Wolverhampton North-East, holding the honourable role for 18 years. A champion of the working class, as well as the Commons, Ken is a true unsung hero of our society and I am sure in the knowledge that the House is a lesser place without his booming presence. He is, for me, a true inspiration and I am sure that when I enter politics, Ken will be a main reason behind it.

I also met the potential leader of the Labour Party today, David Miliband, at the impressive Bilston Campus of the City of Wolverhampton College. He was talking to people who have benefitted from the Future Jobs Fund, a brilliant scheme which is, unfortunately and unsurprisingly, being cut by the Tories for quite frankly pathetic reasons. He was polite and perfectly nice, as expected, but for me these was a certain je nas sais pas missing… I will reveal to you in a later blog who I am backing for our next leader.

Speaking of Tories I will now for the first, and most definitely not last, time write about my new Tory MP, Mr. Neil Carmichael. Elected by some, laughed at by all, Mr. Carmichael really exemplifies all I despise in a Tory government and Conservatives themselves. Once again, I will tell you one of the many, many stories that I can about Carmichael in a later blog.

I hope this doesn’t read too badly, I hope you have enjoyed reading and I hope you will continue to read!
